Occupation codes

Every SOC 2020 occupation code, and where the Appendix lists it.

All 412 SOC 2020 unit groups, with the Office for National Statistics description of each and the table of the Home Office Appendix Skilled Occupations that lists it. Not immigration advice.

Appendix Skilled Occupations: figures as at 3 August 2026, re-checked against the 8 October 2026 page on 26 October 2026 (unchanged) · ONS SOC 2020 Volume 1: file dated 27 August 2026, version V13

All 412 occupation codes are listed below, by ONS major group.

How to read the list

  • The status says which tables of the Appendix Skilled Occupations list the code. “On the list” means Table 1, 2 or 3. “Transitional tables only” means the code appears only in tables for applicants granted permission under earlier rules; each table’s caption gives the date. “Not on the list” means Table 6.
  • A few codes are in Table 6 and in a transitional table. They are shown as their own group so that neither reading hides the other.
  • The going rate is the table’s own figure, as printed. Tables 3 and 3a use national pay scales, so they have no single figure. Whether a particular job fits a code is for the sponsor and its solicitor to decide.

SponsorFlow provides compliance software and record-keeping tools. It is not a law firm or an immigration adviser and does not give legal or immigration advice, which are regulated activities (Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, section 84). This page describes what the published Home Office guidance and the Immigration Rules say, with the paragraph for each point, so you can read the source yourself. Guidance versions and figures are those in force on the date shown; the Home Office changes them, so check the current version before you rely on any of it.

Immigration firms: check the role, build the file.

Step 1 checks a role and its candidates against the published rules, with the quote and the paragraph for each finding. Step 2 builds the Appendix D file. Your solicitor decides and signs. £1,875 a month + VAT, unlimited files and client portals, 30 days free on a real file, no card.
