How the answer is worked out
For each option, the salary needed is the higher of two figures: the general threshold in the Immigration Rules, and the going rate the Appendix Skilled Occupations prints for the code. The page prints both, the sum, and what is left over or missing. Going rates in Tables 1 to 2a are stated for a 37.5-hour week.
SW 4.4. If the requirements for the relevant option are met, the applicant will be awarded 20 points.
SW 14.4. Going rates will be pro-rated to the applicant’s working pattern, as follows: (a) going rates for SOC 2020 occupation codes listed in Tables 1 to 2a of Appendix Skilled Occupations are based on a 37.5-hour week
For a code in Table 1 the big word answers option A, the general option. A code in no current table can still be sponsored if it is on the Immigration Salary List (SW 6.1(b)) or the Temporary Shortage List (SW 6.1(c), SW 6.1A, for a certificate issued before 31 December 2026): then the big word names the list and its date, and answers the option that list uses, A for the Temporary Shortage List and D for the Immigration Salary List. A code in neither is answered No when it is in Table 6 or only in a transitional table. Options D, E, F, I and J are listed beside the answer so a salary that fits one of them is visible. Each depends on a fact about the job or the worker that this page does not ask; its condition is printed under its name. The PhD options (B, C, G, H) are not listed.

It is not a law firm or an immigration adviser and does not give legal or immigration advice, which are regulated activities (Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, section 84). This page describes what the published Home Office guidance and the Immigration Rules say, with the paragraph for each point, so you can read the source yourself. Guidance versions and figures are those in force on the date shown; the Home Office changes them, so check the current version before you rely on any of it.
